AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed Tehran’s support for efforts to achieve lasting peace between Pakistan and India, expressing Iran’s willingness to mediate in the process.
During a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday, both leaders exchanged Eid al-Adha greetings and discussed regional stability and cooperation.
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s commitment to global de-escalation, particularly within the Islamic world, stating that diplomacy and constructive dialogue are essential to maintaining security and peace.
Welcoming Sharif’s invitation to visit Islamabad, Pezeshkian indicated that his administration would explore opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Sharif, in turn, expressed gratitude for Iran’s hospitality during his recent visit to Tehran, highlighting productive discussions on defense, security, economic affairs, and other sectors.
He proposed that an Iranian delegation visit Pakistan to identify avenues for strengthening ties ahead of Pezeshkian’s future trip.
Sharif also praised Iran’s stance on Pakistan-India tensions, reaffirming his government’s commitment to peaceful dialogue with New Delhi and welcoming Iran’s role as a potential mediator in fostering stability in the region.
